ASTAXANTHIN OVERVIEW ASTAXANTHIN SUPPLEMENTS

The Health Benefits of Astaxanthin: Restore Total Body Health at the Cellular Level

Astaxanthin is a remarkable natural health supplement that boasts a wide range of health benefits across the entire body. This video will help you understand some of the wide range of health benefits you can receive from daily supplementation of Astaxanthin.

Total Body Health at the Cellular Level

Just like Spirulina, Astaxanthin has a wide range of health benefits that extend across the entire body. And this is due to Astaxanthin being one of the most potent and effective free radical scavengers as well as exhibiting a powerful ability to reduce inflammation.

Both of these degenerative forces have far ranging effects on the body because they create problems at the cellular level. And both are widely known for being primary contributors to the development of nearly all forms of chronic disease.

Oxidative Stress is the Most Destructive Enemy of the Body

In fact a large body of scientists believe that oxidative stress is the root cause of a majority of all bodily degeneration as well as aging itself. This body of scientists ascribe to the free radical theory of aging which postulates ““that organisms age because cells accumulate free radical damage over time.”

Oxidative stress damages the body at the cellular level, in fact it actually damages the cells themselves. The damage to the cells causes them to run less efficiently thus causing the body to run less efficiently. This imbalance then leads to a slew of possible health issues….

It has long been understand that optimal health starts at the cellular level. And Astaxanthin aids in achieving optimal health by nourishing and protecting you at the cellular level.

Health Issues Caused by Oxidative Stress

Oxidative stress is nothing to take lightly. It is actually believed to be the root causes of a majority of degenerative diseases as well as the overall deterioration and aging of the body.

Astaxanthin is a Powerful Anti-Inflammatory

Astaxanthin is also shown to be a powerful anti-inflammatory, being able to suppress a variety of inflammatory mediators. And unlike anti-inflammatory drugs which often only suppress one mediators, Astaxanthin is shown to affect a wide variety of mediators but in a gentler, less concentrated manner and without the negative side effects of the anti-inflammatory drugs.

CRP tests are used to guage levels of inflammation. In clinical studies researchers found that natural Astaxanthin reduced CRP levels by 20% after 8 weeks.

Inflammation has now been found to be a root catalyst in many differnet health issues and disease. Yale School of Medicine researchers have boldly stated “Inflammation is the common denominator of many chronic age-related diseases such as arthritis, gout, Alzheimer's, and diabetes. And even in the absence of a disease, inflammation can lead to serious loss of function throughout the body, reducing our overall health span; the portion of life spent healthy and free of disease.”

Astaxanthin is the Most Powerful Antioxidant & Free Radical Scavenger on the Planet

When it comes to free radical scavenging Astaxanthin has been found to be 65 times more powerful than Vitamin C, 54 times more powerful than beta carotene, and 14 times more powerful than vitamin E.

When it comes to “singlet oxygen quenching” which is a particular kind of oxidative stress and is a highly unstable form of oxygen. Astaxanthin is shown to be 550 times more effective than vitamin E and 11 times more effective than beta-carotene.

Another huge benefit of Astaxanthin as an antioxidant is the fact that is highly bioavailable throughout the whole body. This means that it is able to eliminate free radicals in every part of the body. This is actually a very rare attribute because many antioxidants can only work on specific areas of the body.

In fact Astaxanthin is one of the only antioxidants that can cross the blood-brain barrier and fight oxidative stress to the brain. Oxidative stress in the brain actually destroys the brain cells AKA neurons, which leads to the degeneration of the brain. Astaxanthin’s ability to fight oxidative stress in the brain helps keep the brain fresh and clear and also helps prevent degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

On top of that, Astaxanthin is able to eliminate free radicals at a much greater rate because it can neutralize multiple free radicals simultaneously.  Unlike other antioxidants such as Vitamin C & E, which can only work on one free radical at a time, Astaxanthin has been shown to handle as many as 19 free radicals at a time.

Astaxanthin is also shown to stay- active as a antioxidant for much longer. Unlike many other antioxidants that are neutralized after their electrons

Astaxanthin has been discovered to be the most powerful antioxidant on earth and  is considered the greatest ally against oxidative stress.

If your not aware… Antioxidants prevent oxidative stress by neutralizing free radicals which are the root cause of oxidative stress.

Free Radical Scavenging

are “used up,” Astaxanathin has a much larger surplus of free electrons that it can donate to free radicals in order to neutralize them.

Astaxanthin abilities as an antioxidant also gives it tremendous anti-inflammatory capacities. It is shown to reduce a wide range of inflammation mediators, but in a gentler and less concentrated manner in comparison to many anti-inflammatory medications.

Astaxanthin & Brain Health & Performance

Astaxanthin has been shown to exhibit major benefits to overall brain health, being shown to aid in preventing brain degeneration as well as improve cognitive function.

Brain degeneration has 2 major culprits, which are oxidative stress caused by free radicals and inflammation. Due to many recent studies Astaxanthin has been heralded as one of the best nutrients for the brain. First of all, it is one of the few high-powered antioxidants that can actually cross the blood-brain barrier. Which means it can actually reach your brain and help heal and protect it. Secondly, in countless studies it has been shown to neutralize free radicals and reduce brain inflammation, protecting your brain cells from damage or destruction.

As you probably know, everyone experiences mental decline as they age. Some experience  it in small degrees such as memory loss and others fall susceptible to total brain degeneration and develop diseases like Alzheimer’s .  Either way as we age so does our brain, but the degree to which it ages and declines is very much in your hands. Just like many other forms of age related decline, mental decline is expedited and magnified by oxidative stress and inflammation.

Astaxanthin has also shown to actually improve memory and combat depression over time. In one particular study conducted by the Research and Development Center of Marine Biotechnology at the Institute of Oceanology in China, researchers found clear improvements in memory among subjects given Astaxanthin over a 30 day period. The researchers explicitly concluded “Astaxanthin is really good for improving memory.”

Astaxanthin Improves Excercise Performance, Endurance & Recovery

Another very popular and sought after benefit of Astaxanthin is its ability to improve exercise performance and endurance as well as improve recovery from exercise.

During short-term exercise, the body first burns carbs for fuel, but during long-term exercise, the body depletes carb stores and starts to burn body fat.

Doctors said that Astaxanthin increases muscle enzymes that help convert fat to energy. To test this theory, 14 competitive cyclists took 4 mg of astaxanthin per day or a placebo.

After 28 days, the bikers fasted and rode for two hours to deplete stored carbs, and then took a 12-mile time trial. The astaxanthin group completed the trial much faster than the placebo group.

In another double blind palcebo clinical trial that aimed to test Astaxanthin’s ability to improve strength performance, researchers gave 20 participants 4 mg of Astaxanthin for 6 months and 20 participants a placebo.

The physical strengths examined were strength/endurance, fitness and strength/explosivity by standard exercises. Each student was tested for their baseline strengths before the astaxanthin supplementation started. For the students who took the astaxanthin for six months the average number of squats increased by 54.9% or 27.05 squats (from 49.32 to 76.37).

The students who had taken the placebo increased their performance by 19.5% or 9.0 squats (from 46.06 to 55.06). Therefore, the increase in the astaxanthin supplemented group was three times higher than the improvement in the placebo group (P=0.047). None of the other strength tests differed significantly between the groups at the end of the research period. Based on their research the scientists conclude that astaxanthin improves strength and endurance in sports performance.

Researcher speculate that astaxanthin protects the cell membrane, including the mitochondrial membrane, against oxidative stress that comes with intense exercise. It's possible that astaxanthin thereby preserves the functionality of the muscle cells, they say.

Astaxanthin also aids in exercise recovery by reducing lactic acid build-up. Lactic acid is what actually causes the feeling of the “burn” during exercise and soreness after exercise. In a Japanese study it was shown that athletes with a daily astaxanthin protocol reduced lactic acid buildup by nearly 29%.eserves the functionality of the muscle cells, they say.

Astaxanthin: Skin Health & Anti-Aging

skin cell diagram_73841821

One of the biggest causes of degeneration in the skin, as well as the entire body, is oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Free radicals are natural waste by-products of your cells production of energy. In a perfectly healthy body these free radicals are easily neutralized and eliminated by antioxidants your body produces as well as antioxidants you consume.

If these free radicals are not eliminated they quickly work to cause damage and degeneration to your skin and body. “Free radicals can damage the very DNA of your skin cells (and every other cell in your body) and destroy the collagen and elastin that provide tautness and elasticity to your skin.” says Andrea Pennnington, M.D.

Inflammation also takes a heavy toll on the health and appearance of skin. For example, it causes your skin collagen to breakdown. And your collagen is what keeps your skin full, vibrant, elastic and wrinkle free.

Acne itself is also an inflammatory condition. Notice how pimples are swollen and red Have you ever woken the morning of a big presentation with a huge pimple? This is not a coincidence because stress creates cortisol and cortisol creates inflammation and inflammation creates pimples. Another skin condition that gets worse with inflammation is rosacea. The redness that shows up on the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin is triggered by inflammation.

Astaxanthin & Immunity

Astaxanthin has been clinically shown to aid in relieving joint discomfort and well as improving overall mobility. Researchers believe it is due to Astaxanthin’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity because oxidative stress and inflammation have been found to be root causes in joint stiffness, joint discomfort and reduced flexibility and mobility.
