Frequently Asked Questions

Barley Grass
What country are your products manufactured in?

All of our products are packaged for final manufacturing in the United States.

Are your containers BPA-free?

Yes, our containers are BPA-free.

Is your barley grass juice powder heated?

Our barley grass is cold-pressed at ambient temperatures. The temperature never exceeds 106ºF (41ºC) and is above body temperature (98.6ºF) for less than 2 minutes. The juice is in 100% raw form maintaining its full bioactive enzyme activity and energetic properties. It is first cold-pressed, and then CO2 dried at ambient temperatures.

When any fruit, vegetable or grass is heat treated (which is very common), many nutrients and energetic properties of the crop are killed off. Our grasses are never heat-treated, providing you with the highest level of nourishment and energy.

Is your barley grass juice powder organic?

Yes, it is organically certified and grown in the mineral-rich volcanic soil of Utah.

Is your barley grass juice powder vegan, gluten-free, or GMO-free?

Yes, it is vegan, GMO-free, and gluten-free.

Where is the barley grass grown?

It is organically grown in the mineral-rich soil of western Utah. The volcanic soil is loaded with essential minerals which produce the most nutrient dense Barley Grass Juice. The volcanic soil is ideal for barley grass as it contains over 70+ trace minerals. These minerals promote the optimal growth and nutritional content of the grass. The farm does not employ the use of chemicals, animal fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.

What is the difference between barley grass juice powder and barley grass powder?

The nutrient concentration of our juice powder is 7-10 times higher than whole leaf barley grass powder.

Whole leaf powder is ground up grass and contains fillers which the human body cannot digest. This process makes the product dead and indigestible and has no associated health benefits. Juice powder, on the other hand, is cold-pressed juice that is CO2 dried at ambient temperatures. This locks in the same nutrients that would be available from drinking it straight from our organic certified facilities. When reassembled with water, there is no deterioration of the essential properties of the freshly squeezed barley grass juice.

I am taking 4 tablets of spirulina and 4 tablets of chlorella each day to detoxify my body. I noticed that I feel nausea and I am wondering if I’m taking too much. What is the recommended dosage to take of each tablet per day?

You are not taking too much. Ideally, you would want to consume 4 tablets of each per day. The nausea is rare, but here are some recommendations that may help.

First, possibly split up the serving to 2 servings per day, 2 spirulina and 2 chlorellae per serving, and make sure to take both servings with food. Your stomach may be having difficulty with digestion and if that is the case, taking the tablets with food may help with the digestion. When you eat a meal, your body produces a high number of digestive enzymes. You may need additional digestive help. Also, are you taking probiotics? Probiotics are very beneficial for gut health and help the body with nutrient assimilation. If your gut bacteria is low, it may be difficult for your body to absorb and assimilate all of the nutrients.

If the issue persists possibly consider moving down to 2 tablets of each per day. The following week increase to 3 and the next week back up to 4. But first, try taking it with larger meals.

How long does it take to detoxify the body using both chlorella and spirulina together each day?

The body is never fully detoxified as it is continually coming in contact with external toxins from things like cleaning supplies or even heavy metals that are prevalent in produce. Both spirulina and chlorella are beneficial for continual detoxification, but if you want to do a large-scale flush, you may want to consider a full detox. During full detoxes the body does a purge and the body needs to get in the purge state to really expel large amounts of toxins. The spirulina and chlorella are fantastic to take during this process, as well as continually because they will assist the body in continuously expelling toxins. It is recommended to do a full detox every 6 months to purge the body of large amounts of toxins and then every day after that, take actions to expel toxins that you come in contact with day-to-day continually. The day-to-day maintenance is where spirulina and chlorella come in.

I am a cancer survivor. Is it healthy to take both chlorella and spirulina for the rest of my life?

Both spirulina and chlorella are very beneficial to your long-term health. As a cancer survivor, we recommend keeping spirulina and chlorella in your diet for the rest of your life. Spirulina, in particular, raises both the content and activity of Natural Killer Cells, which are the cells in the body that target and destroy tumor or cancer cells. Chlorella improves the health of the cells and DNA, which are beneficial for cancer prevention.

What is the difference between spirulina and chlorella?

Spirulina and chlorella both compliment each other very well, and it is absolutely beneficial to take both. They are two different species of algae so their nutrient content and various health properties differ. It is similar to the importance of eating both spinach and kale. Spirulina is more nutrient dense; we often consider it mother nature’s vitamin whereas chlorella is extremely good for detoxification and cellular health. Both have similar benefits such as cardiovascular health, anti-aging, etc… But taking both in no way is overkill. They complement each other.

What species is Triquetra Health’s Organic Chlorella?

The species is chlorella vulgaris. Each tablet has 500 mg. One adult serving is 4 tablets with a total of 2000 mg of chlorella.

What is the difference between chlorella and chlorophyll?

Chlorophyll is a group of green pigments found in the chloroplasts of plants and other photosynthetic organisms. Chlorella is a single-celled green alga that contains chlorophyll. It is found in bodies of fresh water and has high concentrations of nutrients such as vitamin C, carotenoids, vitamin B complex, iron, and protein. Chlorella is the world’s richest natural source of chlorophyll.

What method do you use to break the cell wall?

Our organic chlorella has uniquely larger cells that result in a weak cell wall. The cell walls are cracked during regular processing, centrifuging and spray drying, of the organic chlorella culture. This helps us to avoid harsh mechanical cracking resulting in a stable and bioavailable organic chlorella.

At what temperature is the chlorella spray-dried?

The organic chlorella is dried using Spar drying as a wet slurry. The chlorella is exposed in this drying process for only a few seconds and is heated under 50° Celsius.

In Comparing pyrenoidosa and vulgaris chlorella, which species is less effective in terms of heavy metal detoxification?

Both species are virtually identical. There are brands of pyrenoidosa chlorella that claim the species is more superior, but there is no data to show this. What is most important is whether the chlorella is grown using sunlight or inside of an enclosed reactor. Our chlorella is sun-grown and grown following best organic farming standards, which leads to the highest content and growth of Chlorella Growth Factor (GCF). CGF is the unique peptide complex that is unique to chlorella and delivers its potent cellular health, regeneration, and detoxification benefits. So, to answer your question, both species are identical and whether it is sun-grown or not influences its GCF content which improves its detoxification properties.

Is your organic chlorella and spirulina grown outdoors in the sun?

Yes, our organic spirulina and chlorella are both grown in sunlight outdoors.

Is your chlorella both vegan and vegetarian?

Yes, Chlorella does meet all vegan and vegetarian farming standards.

Does your chlorella come in a gel capsule form?

No, we only produce it in tablet and powder forms. It contains 100% organic chlorella. We do not use any fillers or binders in the tableting process.

Does your chlorella contain chlorella growth factor (CGF)?

We have 20% CGF by content. We are not aware of any farms achieving 30% CGF.
From our in-depth understanding of the nature of chlorella, it is not possible to have CGF levels that high without manipulating farming with additives. We achieve 20% with a rigid organic vegan farming process, and the chlorella is sun-grown. Some chlorella are grown in reactors, never exposed to sunshine and living off sugar instead of sun.

How much iodine is in your chlorella tablets?

There are trace levels of iodine in chlorella, but not significant levels. The algae species kelp is actually a much more potent source of Iodine.

I am on an iron supplement. How much iron is in each chlorella tablet?

Chlorella is not an algae species with high iron content – so you do not have to worry about taking too much iron. It does not have any significant amount of iron.

Should I take broken-cell wall chlorella form to benefit nutritionally?

The cell-wall form, which is not broken is extremely strong and cannot be fully broken down in the digestive tract. For chlorella to release its storehouse of nutrition, it needs to be broken down (or cracked) to receive the full benefit of this superfood.

Can I crush chlorella tablets?

These pills can be crushed rather easily, but you may want to consider our organic chlorella powder if you are trying to expand the surface area for greater bioavailability. We hope this helps.

What is the chlorella dosage you recommend for kids?

For the chlorella tablets, children ages 4-12 can take 2 tablets per day, and ages 12+ can take 4 tablets per day (standard serving size).

Yes, chlorella is safe and very beneficial to take during through all 3 trimesters of pregnancy. When it comes to dosage, if you took chlorella before being pregnant, you can stick with the standard dosage. If you did not take chlorella before pregnancy, we recommend you reduce the serving size by 50% for the first week and then move up to standard serving size. The only reason we recommend the 50% reduction is that the harmony of your body is very important during pregnancy. So we recommend easing into it. For example, it is shown to help clean out the digestive system. If you’re a bit backed up and just start taking it, you may go through a detox period.

When not to take it… If you have an auto-immune disorder, you definitely want to consult your doctor before taking it. Ionic Zinc
Where is the citric acid in Ionic Zinc derived from?

Non-GMO Beets

The ingredients list says the solution contains 70 milligrams of ionic trace minerals (ITM). What exactly are ionic trace minerals?

The Ionic Trace Mineral (ITM) blend is a blend of 72 ionic trace minerals in low doses. These trace minerals are just like other minerals such as Zinc – but the body only requires them in smaller doses. They play a crucial role in a variety of bodily functions and are extremely important for the cells. They also help balance the pH in the body. We added this to the formulation because it helps support the systemic and overall health of the body.

There are 72 ionic trace minerals found in this blend. Here is a list of some of the notable ones: Magnesium, Chloride, Potassium, Sulfate, Sodium, Boron, Bromide, Calcium, Carbonate, Silicon, Nitrogen, Selenium, Phosphorus, Iodine, Chromium, Iron, Manganese, Titanium, Rubidium, Cobalt, Copper, Antimony, Molybdenum, Strontium, Zinc, Nickel, Tungsten, Scandium, Tin, Lanthanum, Yttrium, Silver, Gallium, Zirconium, Vanadium, Beryllium, Tellurium, Bismuth, Hafnium, Terbium, Europium, Gadolinium, Samarium, Cerium, Cesium, Gold, Dysprosium, Holmium, Lutetium, Erbium, Ytterbium, Neodymium, Praseodymium, Niobium, Tantalum, Thorium, Thallium, Rhenium.

What is the ITM blend and what are its benefits?

Ionic Trace Minerals (ITM) is a concentrated mineral blend of naturally occurring ionic trace minerals that is also naturally high in chloride and magnesium. An ionic mineral is defined as an atom or group of atoms with either a positive or negative charge, meaning they conduct electrical impulses. Within the body, they keep organs such as the brain and heart functioning. Trace minerals also work synergistically with one another to ensure that proper absorption, activation, regulation, and pH balance occurs within the body. They are literally involved in every process within the body! We add the ITM to most all our other products to help activate the other nutrients in those products. If we lived in a perfect world, where we would be consuming the needed trace minerals in the amounts our bodies need from the foods we ate, then there would be no need for the ITM. Remember that plants take elements from the soil and, if needed, convert those elements into their smallest form: ionic minerals. These ionic minerals are then found in the very foods we eat. Because an ionic mineral is the smallest form of a mineral, it is the easiest form for our bodies to assimilate. This is because it is small enough to pass through cell walls. However, our soils are being depleted of these very important elements through various issues. So, it only stands to reason that if an element is not in the soil, it won’t be in our food. Hence the reason there is a need to supplement trace minerals.

Is Ionic Zinc derived from shellfish?

Ionic Zinc is mined, derived from zinc sulfate.

Saw Palmetto
What country are your products manufactured in?

All of our products are packaged for final manufacturing in the United States.

Why do your softgels contain modified corn starch and carrageenan as ingredients?

These ingredients are a necessity not a risk. Our saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil contain 100% saw palmetto extract; this content is an extremely potent concentration of free fatty acids. These are the active and essential ingredients in saw palmetto. All clinical studies were conducted around these active nutrients. The concentration of free fatty acids is extremely high and requires an appropriate form of encapsulation. The softgels are essential in maintaining the proper encapsulation of these nutrients without degradation which would lead to rot and leakage. It is the most stable form of delivering such potent content of ingredients. It also delivers these nutrients to the region in the digestive system where they can be best absorbed.

We understand the concern and desire for clean labels with pure natural ingredients. We are very much a part of this movement which is a driving force behind the products we offer. The organic quality standards of our spirulina and chlorella could also attest to this. With that said, much information regarding some ingredients is a bit misleading. All studies related to carrageenan are related to the degraded form. This form is yes, in fact dangerous. But when it comes to non-degraded forms, it is not dangerous. The amount of carrageenan used in our saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil softgels is minuscule in comparison to any food source. This is the same with modified corn starch. One softgel contains exponentially less modified corn starch in comparison to literally a handful of processed food containing the ingredient.

We understand the desire and movement towards a reduction of certain ingredients. But in this case, we could not possibly deliver the nutrient content found in our extract without such softgels. It is just a give and take which has to be made to enjoy the benefits of such a potent concentration of botanical extracts. Sometimes a small bit of science can help us better reap the benefits of the amazing healing properties found in mother nature.
